What is happening to the Forclaz brand?

You’ve probably heard about it: We’re saying goodbye to the Forclaz brand.
But the good news is... its products are staying!

In March 2024, Decathlon changed its brand catalogue. This change is the result of Decathlon’s desire to make it easier for sportsmen and women to understand.

The trekking brand Forclaz is one of the brands affected. Its logo, which is gradually being phased out, will be replaced by that of the historic Simond brand.

Forclaz: a brand for adventurers

Since 2016, Forclaz, has been developing sustainable trekking equipment, offering a wide range of products, from backpacks and technical clothing to footwear and bivouacking gear.
Based in Passy, at the foot of Mont Blanc, the brand’s aim is to accompany your trekking adventures as far and as long as possible.

Forclaz shares its values with trekking: humility, solidarity, commitment, vitality and responsibility. Since its creation, the Forclaz team has been made up of a range of skills and personalities who share a passion for trekking and a commitment to limiting our carbon footprint.

Although the brand name is being phased out, the teams are staying to continue offering you quality products that respect our values. All under a new label: Simond.

Simond: committed to mountaineering

Simond is a historic brand with deep roots in the world of mountaineering and climbing. Founded in Chamonix in 1860, the brand is a pioneer in the manufacture of mountaineering equipment and its products were used in some of the first major expeditions such as:
1950, 1st ascent of Annapurna by Maurice Herzog
1953, 1st ascent of Everest by Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay
1973, 1st ascent of the Drus North East Couloir by Walter Cecchinel

Simond has been part of the Decathlon group since 2008. Since then, the brand has extended its range to include all the equipment needed for mountaineering, while maintaining its historically high standards.

Simond now acts as an expert mountain sports brand, focusing on creating high-performance products for mountain sports enthusiasts.

Under the Simond banner, you’ll find equipment dedicated to:
- Climbing
- Mountaineering
- Trekking
- Via Ferrata
- Canyoning
- Backcountry skiing

The Decathlon strategy: a clearer offer

All of us at Decathlon work to innovate, design responsibly and co-create the best products and services for users of all levels alongside sportsmen and women.
To make it easier for you to understand our brands, we have simplified our brand portfolio.

The decision to merge Forclaz and Simond, under the latter’s name, is part of this overall strategy, and aims to bring together products dedicated to expert mountain sports under a single banner. By merging these ranges, we want to build on Simond’s heritage and expertise in mountain sports, while continuing to offer you affordable, high-quality equipment.

Can you still find Forclaz products in our shops?

Trekking products will gradually start bearing the Simond logo.
So rest assured, you’ll still be able to find your favourite trekking equipment, whether on the GR trails or on the steep mountain faces, all under the Simond name.

The story continues...
Simond has restructured and reorganised to offer a complete mountain experience. The expert teams now work hand in hand to continue to advance and innovate in the development of mountain equipment.
